How do you find truth in these times ?

Last night my son sent me a video of Donald Trump talking about me.

In it he appears to say quite convincingly “Dan Burgess is my right hand man, he is essential in fighting the climate hoax and investing in oil’

It was created by my son in 2 mins (with great hilarity) using a free app

It reminded me that about 4 billion humans will vote in an election this year.

That’s half the planet.

I’m anticipating a tsunami of disinformation, deep fakes and dubious content to overwhelm, confuse, persuade and divide us.
When it seems we are already overwhelmed with trying to figure out what is true and who to trust.

It’s not hard to see the trouble coming down the line.

Last year I hosted author Jay Griffiths on The Remix, our story themed (un)learning adventure.

She brought a provocation around truth telling in these times.
Something can be real but is it true?
Does it speak to the real truth of things ?

How do we know what is true when everything feels real?

There are two places I am learning to go to for truth:

The first is the Earth, the Earth is real and true.
It’s been here for 4.5 billion years.
It self organises and is 100% regenerative
There is deep intelligence there.

The second is the heart, the heart is real and true.
When we learn to tune in to and trust our heart intelligence.
We know what is true.

Recently I spent an hour listening to Tiokasin Ghosthorse - member of Cheyenne River Lakota Nation of South Dakota.
On the heart, he said:

“The heart is reality, the mind is imagination.
The brain is a seed of the heart.”

With regular practice the Earth will help connect you with truth.
Working from your heart intelligence is real and true.
