If you could spend every friday working on the collective future of the human species, the health…

Notes from open zoom call 20/03/20
Before the coronavirus pandemic locked the world down, I (along with others) had been exploring this idea of how might friday become a day of mass, regular action on our collective futures — a day (or 20% of a working week) for radical collaboration.
More on where it emerged from can be found here and where it is now here and how others are thinking about it here and here.
Anyway last friday as folks began to lock down we ran an open zoom call for one hour to explore this question in the title above ^^^^.
30 folks joined the call, and clearly the coronavirus pandemic is the context which is framing everything right now, but here’s the headlines that came from the conversation. I’m literally just posting the raw thoughts here:
This moment is indicating how weak and vulnerable our foodsystems are — local food systems feel like an area that need massive attention.
Could friday become a day of connection to nature (post self isolation)
Is this moment of multiple crises a time to more intentionally bring together indigenous wisdom with science and creativity to reimagine our systems/ways ?
How can we best help people now, today, the most vulnerable, how can we use all this creativirty and ingenuity to best support those who need the help today?
How crazy is it that our global economy can break so quickly and how exposed we are.
How quickly can we create a new and different one?
How can we create more spaces to hold, support and help people with the inevitable grief as the world as we know it continues to crumble ?
Noticing the war like language, reminding oursleves of the power of language and that words matter
let’s champion social connection with physical distancing NOT social distancing
How can we help accelerate connection to nature in times of lockdown ?
What about 20% of our working week for awareness of our collective future not just ‘action’ — a time for pause, silence and awareness.
We are holding another call this friday at 11am GMT — for details go here and scroll down
