January 2023: time to stoke our re-imagination and orient ourselves for the seasons ahead
Words, ideas and experiences to take us through this dark time of the year and nurture our efforts towards individual and collective transformation.
Greetings Earthling,
We hope this finds you ok in these mysterious times.
Welcome to a January edition of our irregular newsletter.
The year may be new but we’re still in the deep wintertime of dreaming and visioning.
These dark, damp, foggy days at the start of the year can be a potent time for reflecting and orienting ourselves for the seasons ahead, as we work towards individual and collective transformation.
This season calls us in to engage in the vital work of re-imagining the myths and stories that shape our worlds.
This is a time to both remember and dream up stories for healing and regeneration, which we long to bring to life through our work, our unique gifts and the way we show up in the world.
The following posts, podcasts, videos and links are offered as fertiliser for this.
This week, we return to Eve Elsner’s feminist re-telling of the mythos of Adam & Eve to nurture our own re-imagining. Her Eve’s Revolution is a bold and joyful call to fearlessly challenge dominant paradigms and ‘eat the apple of remembering’:
“This is the time for radical change. This is the time to come into our bodies to dance and drum and rise. This is the time to stop apologising for our belief that it is possible to live in a world where everyone gets fed; taken care of.”
If you’re looking for a process to stoke your own re-imagining this winter and orient yourself for the seasons ahead, we have our next Community Solo coming up on 26th January and there are still places. Over the 5 weeks together we will be:
connecting to community & collective wisdom
rooting in nature, in the places we call home
exploring how might our unique gifts be of service to the larger web of life
working with stories, creativity & group reflective practices
We are here. We are listening.

Upcoming Adventures
Deep Winter Community Solo - 26th January - 16th February
A 5-week online guided adventure with a nature solo at its heart. Surface your deepest questions, set intentions & nurture courageous action in service to all life.
“To find a community that understands the need for solitude, silence and stillness, in these times, is precious and so very needed. I think we can all sense these deep whispers in our heart. Dan, Evva, and Mark very gently guide us down into soul. Into a place where we can meet each other in authenticity, care, and attention. It’s a slow space full of magic, from Evva’s calming meditations, to Mark’s beautiful storytelling, and the wondrous imagination and creativity of Dan. It’s a beautiful clearing in the woods, where you meet in the warmth of each other’s embrace and experiences, before heading off into the woods again, with confidence, that you are always heading in the right direction and trust that you are never walking all alone.”
David Hoogland - participant in Community Solo, December 22.

What gifts and longings are alive through you ?
- Evva reflects on practices to help guide your efforts and imagination in 2023 and far beyond.
“Our bodies are hosts to trillions of microorganisms, our nervous systems co-regulate, our thoughts are expressions of the lives lived by our ancestors, teachers, loved & dear ones, human and more-than-human…when we choose to make ourselves permeable to the idea of a complex, enmeshed, co-created self, we don’t absolve our unique potential. Instead, we create space for becoming fuller expressions of that which we carry within us, for nurturing our capacity to participate in the emergence of more beautiful, equitable futures”
Regenerative organisations are ongoing evolutionary becomings
- Dan believes (un)learning in crews will become an essential innovation practice for organisational futures. We’re seeking four courageous organisations to adventure with us this year.
“ if we’re not innovating, communicating and going about our business grounded in a curiosity for the interconnectedness of all life, opening ourselves up to working with a vast diversity of intelligence beyond just human knowing, in solidarity with our fellow humans and more than humans, strategising long term for a future we will not see and in the spirit of healing, care, co-operation and compassion then we’re just digging ourselves deeper into irrelevance and eventual collapse.”
Tales of 2022
- From The Spaceship Earth podcast highlights, Stories for Life at Glastonbury Festival, the complexity of staying grounded when so much is falling apart, to the launch of Becoming Crew, Dan reflects on 2022.
“When we create intentional space for our grief and pain for the destruction in our world, when we remember the joy and awe and creativity of life, when we open ourselves up with humility to the vast intelligence of life around us, when we listen deeply to others, when we cultivate practices to deepen our relationship to life itself - Then we can move through the fear and uncertainty of what is and into the incredible creative and regenerative possibilities of what could be. And that is genuinely exciting”

EP 62 Fergal Smith - Moy Hill Farm - It’s not the cow, it’s the how
Former professional big wave surfer Fergal Smith walked away from professional surfing a decade ago to begin a journey of becoming a regenerative farmer on the West coast of Ireland.
In this conversation recorded in June 2022 Dan revisits Moy Hill for a third time and catches up with where Fergal is at on the evolutionary journey of Moy Hill Farm .
This conversation is an open exploration of the challenges, complexity and nuance required in bringing life back to landscapes, feeding people healthy food and dealing with the challenges of the urgent transition from industrial agriculture to regenerative farming.
Available on all podcast platforms.
Tricia Hersey on Deprogramming from Grind Culture
For the Wild is one of the most awesome podcasts around, in our humble opinion. This episode with Tricia Hersey of The Nap Ministry stopped us in our tracks several times. Rest is Resistance.
Opening up to more than human intelligence with James Bridle
‘Ways of being’ from Artist and writer James Bridle is well worth a read if you’re recognising the dangers and limitations of only staying locked into human centric thinking and intelligence in these times. Great podcast from Emergence to tease.
Becoming Crew & Community Solo
This is a short 15 min audio explainer from Dan (on a ramble in the woods) on the emerging dream of Becoming Crew, an overview of Community Solo and his own profound experience of guiding and participating in the first adventure last year.
Our first (un)learning offer Community Solo is a 5 week experience for a crew of individuals which our first cohort completed in mid December.
We have a second crew departing on 26th January, with some spots still available

Recorded at Bioneers in 2014, Eve Elsner’s feminist re-telling of the mythos of Adam & Eve to nurture our own re-imagining. Her Eve’s Revolution is a bold and joyful call to fearlessly challenge dominant paradigms and ‘eat the apple of remembering’. It’s a 40 minute investment, but so worth it and feels like it was made yesterday.
“This is the time for radical change. This is the time to come into our bodies to dance and drum and rise. This is the time to stop apologising for our belief that it is possible to live in a world where everyone gets fed; taken care of.”
Its’ a new year so we’re experimenting with different formats, this is a video version of the audio above. If video is your ting. Let us know!
