Spring Equinox 2023: Stepping into light and into service.
Words, ideas and experiences in a time of balance between light and darkness.
Greetings Earthling,
Welcome to the Spring Equinox edition of our irregular newsletter. We’re in that delicious time here in the northern hemisphere, the point of balance between light and dark, action and feeling - a beginning of coming aliveness.
It is also a time of deep mystery and complexity and this week’s IPCC report on the climate crisis reminds us (again) that we are on the brink of irrevocable damage.
How we collectively respond to this ‘final warning’ is now key. Perhaps though it is time to consider the root of these crises - the way that we relate to and connect with the world around us.
In order to make rapid, transformative shifts that are so urgently required we need to re-imagine not just what we do, but how we connect and how we relate - to nature and the more than human world, to ourselves and to each other. We need to recognise that these things are all deeply inter-connected.
Radical climate action means returning to the true source of love, re-entangling ourselves with the natural world, with the world we have not made.
If we can do this then perhaps we become better able to face into and move through the climate and ecological crises.
We are here. We are listening.

Remixing our view of storytelling- Mark reflects on his journeying into place-based mythology and being an apprentice to story
“There is an old idea in the oral tradition that you are never truly a storyteller, but instead always an apprentice to story. What this means is being prepared to get caught up in the wider interaction with the living world. It means digging deeper into place, it means forming a lifelong apprenticeship to a patch of land, however small and imperfect. ”
Knowing the world beyond what can be measured- Dan reflects on how we might know the world beyond what can be measured
“What if regenerative futures depended on us learning to practice and trust new ways of knowing the world beyond what can be measured?”
