What does the Earth want from you this year ?
Not a classic new year goals question for sure,
but what if we didn’t have to do this stuff alone.
Learning to tune in to a wider web of life as the year begins, for example:
Walking slowly through a park noticing the birds and breeze.
Sitting in the woods, scrolling trees.
Listening to a river (no headphones)
With practice - what might the Earth reveal to you?
I was visited by a fox last week,
I mean thoroughly visited.
Back and forth outside my studio.
I can still feel the fox vibes,
I’m sensing 2024 might be inviting more trickster.
You see in Westernised cultures we are supposed to know everything ourselves, as separate individuals, we humans are seen as top of the hierarchy, all other species are below us.
So most of us don’t look to nature for guidance.
By contrast in native ways of knowing, humans are often seen as the youngsters. We arrived here last after all.
After the trees and plants.
In Robin Wall Kimmerer’s words
“We say that humans have the least experience with how to live and thus the most to learn—we must look to our teachers among the other species for guidance. Their wisdom is apparent in the way that they live. They teach us by example. They’ve been on the earth far longer than we have been, and have had time to figure things out.”
So here’s a thing, what if we’re missing out on a whole source of wisdom, wonder and insight to help us find our unique place of service and navigate these uncertain times .
Have you received any intel from nature this year ?

This is so true. We have forgotten that everything is interconnected and that we are not separated from the outside world. We are not separated from nature as well, but in our human mind, we think in that way. When I’m doing my morning hike with my dog, I am very open to all the little wonders that await us—a deer that invites us to feel warmth in the coldness of our hearts, a Blue Jay inviting us to discover the sound of our own deep emotional forest, or simply a blue tit who invites us to be playful and creative like our inner child. And when I’m observing all of these wonderful moments, I am present, filled with awe about the beauty that lives in every moment.
